THE POWER OF BLUE LOTUS

On Sunday 18th August we hosted the first of our now monthly Blue Lotus Sound Bath ceremonies. Drinking Blue Lotus connects us to our divine self and awakens our inner healer. Its powers are especially enhanced during the full moon because it helps us tune into ourselves so that we can more clearly realise our innate needs, desires and can even guide us towards our true path.

We brewed the blue lotus into a tea and whilst we drank it we thought about how the full moon is a prime time to ground ourselves and begin the process of mapping out our destinies. We shared our full moon affirmations and goals, and took part in a soothing and restorative sound healing journey led by our founder Zehra, this also allowed us to consolidate and mediate on what we had discussed. We ended, as always, with some affirmations and oracle card readings.

The session was a brilliant opportunity for our community to gather, reflect and look forward to the future. We are so proud and honoured to be able to offer safe spaces for our guests and community to find their inner calm, a space removed from toxicity and judgement, and away from all negative energy. For this article, one of our workshop guests shares their blue lotus sound bath experience, what brought them to The Self Love Lab and their full moon intentions:

Candy’s Testimony:

Could you briefly introduce yourself and share how you discovered The Self Love Lab?

Hey, my name is Candy, I’m 22, born and raised in Hong Kong and a recent graduate of a UK uni. I spent most of the time of my final year of study on my career and neglected my mental wellbeing, so this year I am taking more time for myself. Joining group wellness events is always what I wanted because I want to surround myself with like-minded women.

Blue Lotus (Nymphaea Cerulean) is a stunning bright blue flower with a rich history and recorded uses dating back to Ancient Egyptians, who revered it for its spiritual and medicinal properties. They associated it most commonly with Ra, the sun god, using it in ceremonies to induce higher states of consciousness and relaxation.

Blue Lotus is a natural sedative and contains a combination of alkaloids including aporphine and nuciferine, which can ease tension in the mind and body and promote a deep sense of calm.

Other benefits of taking Blue Lotus include: stress relief and easing of effects of burnout, sensations of mental and physical connection - including feeling embodied and whole, pain relief due to its anti-inflammatory properties, better sleep and finally improved overall health due to its rich antioxidant levels and ability to fight free radicals in the body.

How were you feeling in the week leading up to the Full Moon? Did you have a goal of what you wanted to achieve at the ceremony/how you wanted to feel?

I was feeling a bit heavy so I was journalling constantly to let go of the past and to realign myself. I wanted to feel lighter by forgiving myself and some people so I could welcome new opportunities for the rest of the year.

I am worthy of love.

I am enough just as I am.

I release the limiting beliefs and past stories that held me back.

I am open to receiving opportunities.

Could you share with us some of your Full Moon affirmations for August?

Blue Lotus tea is a famous heart opener - celebrated for its ability to clear the mind from anxieties, relieve stress and help you realise your ambitions more clearly. What was your response to it?

It was really useful for my goals, it helped me release the stress and I am ready to receive new opportunities.

How did you feel immediately after the South Bath - did it have any effect on the rest of your day?

I was at peace after the event and had a slow, chill evening. I did a journalling session before bed and had a great sleep.

How would you describe a South Bath Session to someone who'd never attended one before and would you recommend the experience?

It’s the dream getaway, I would highly recommend it for anyone who is hoping to relieve stress.
